Nokia is returning to the smartphone market

Ana sayfa / News

Nokia has signaled a return to the smartphone market. A post on the company’s official Reddit account included an open call for collaboration with major mobile manufacturers. However, the post was quickly deleted from the platform. Despite this, the content of the statement revealed that the brand’s plans for the mobile market are being reshaped.

Nokia, currently operating in the smartphone market through a licensing agreement with HMD Global, will end this partnership in 2026. Following this, the brand may be preparing to return directly to the market with its own-branded phones. The timing of the post suggests the early stages of such a strategic shift.

Foxconn and Wingtech, which previously worked with Nokia, are among the manufacturers that could be partnered in the upcoming period. These manufacturers previously participated in the production of Nokia-branded devices through HMD Global. Reestablishing a production line with these companies could allow Nokia to quickly enter the affordable phone segment.

Nokia currently holds a strong 5G patent portfolio. This technological advantage could serve as significant leverage for the brand in the new era. Nokia phones released during the HMD Global era attracted particular attention for their robust builds and classic designs.

However, the devices failed to achieve the expected reception in terms of hardware and software performance. A collaboration with a new manufacturer could change this perception and allow the brand to establish a more competitive profile in the modern market.

The rapid removal of the company’s Reddit post indicates that these plans have not yet been finalized. However, the fact that the announcement was made on an official account is considered a strong indication that Nokia is seriously considering a return to the mobile market. Future steps will reveal whether this return is a temporary consideration or part of a concrete plan.
